South Korea Weather in August

韓國 8月 夏天天氣 穿搭

Source: Yonhap News

Average Temperature – August 2025 (Forecast)

Seoul

  • Highs: 30°C to 28°C (rarely falling below 24°C or exceeding 34°C)

  • Lows: 25°C to 22°C (rarely falling below 19°C or exceeding 27°C)

  • Feels Like: 34°C to 37°C during peak afternoon hours due to high humidity

Busan

  • Highs: 30°C to 29°C (rarely falling below 25°C or exceeding 33°C)

  • Lows: 25°C to 23°C (rarely falling below 21°C or exceeding 28°C)

  • Feels Like: 33°C to 36°C, especially along the coast where humidity is elevated

In South Korea, August 2025 is expected to be one of the hottest on record, following an already extreme July. Temperatures will remain high throughout the month, with humidity levels making it feel even hotter. Unlike some years when the “dog days” ease up by late August, this year’s heat is forecast to persist a little longer than usual.

Seoul will experience intense heat from morning through early evening, with little relief during peak hours (9:00 AM to 6:00 PM). Humidity will be especially noticeable in urban areas, creating a heavy, muggy feel.

Rainfall is expected to be lower overall, but sudden, heavy showers are likely to occur, so having an umbrella on hand is a must. Planning indoor activities—like museums, shopping, cafés, and beauty treatments—will help you stay comfortable while avoiding both the heat and sudden downpours.

Beat the heat with... a hot bowl of chicken soup: Boknal (복날)

韓國 8月 夏天天氣 穿搭

Boknal (복날) in Korea refers to the three hottest days of summer, based on the lunar calendar: Chobok (초복), Jungbok (중복), and Malbok (말복). In 2025, these days fall on Chobok – July 14, Jungbok – July 24, and Malbok – August 13. These are traditionally considered the peak of summer heat in Korea.

Koreans have a tradition of eating nourishing and revitalizing foods, like Samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) or any chicken dish, to combat the heat and boost their energy. The practice is rooted in the belief that consuming hot food during the hottest days helps balance the body's energy and improves overall health.

Other common foods to enjoy during the hot summer are naengmyeon (cold noodles), bingsu (Korean shaved ice), kongguksu (soy bean noodles) & more!

Cool off at the beach!

What’s summer without a day at the beach? While Korea may not be famous for its emerald beaches, there are still great spots where you can relax on the sand and take a dip!

Haeundae Beach in Busan is famous for its wide sandy shores and vibrant atmosphere, making it a popular summer destination with plenty of amenities and festivals.

Yangyang's SURFYY Beach, on the east coast, is ideal for surfing enthusiasts, offering surf-friendly waves, lessons, and a laid-back vibe with beach bars and music events.

Nearby Sokcho Beach provides a more serene environment and easy access to local attractions like Sokcho Lighthouse and Seoraksan National Park.

A convenient and affordable way to get these coastal cities is by riding the express bus! The locals will be heading to the beaches as well so make sure to book your tickets in advance! Here's everything you need to know about riding the express bus in Korea:

Did you spend too much time in the sun? Time to head to the skin clinic!

Even if you apply a generous amount of sunscreen, spending a lot of time in the sun can still lead to sun spots. These spots can be particularly stubborn and challenging to remove with over-the-counter skincare products alone. The most effective and quickest way to eliminate them is by visiting a skin clinic.

Fortunately, skin treatments are much more affordable in Korea! For sun spots, we recommend treatments such as Aqua Peel, chemical peels, PICO Laser, and Fraxel Laser. Book an appointment towards the end of your trip to take advantage of these incredible prices and results! You can do so right here on Creatrip!
