Other Monthly Guides

🌤️ Seoul Weather in June 2025

  • Average Highs: 26–28°C (79–82°F)

  • Average Lows: 17–19°C (63–66°F)

  • Rainfall: Approximately 144 mm (5.7 inches) over 10–11 days

  • Humidity: Around 73%

  • Sunshine: Approximately 7 hours per day

  • Daylight: About 14 hours per day

June in Seoul offers warm and pleasant weather, making it an excellent time for outdoor activities. However, as the month progresses, there's an increased chance of rainfall due to the approaching monsoon season.

🌧️ Rainy Season Outlook

The monsoon season (장마) in South Korea typically begins in late June and lasts until the end of July. For 2025, experts anticipate a more intense rainy season, with rainfall expected to be 120–130% of the annual average. This means late June could see heavier and more frequent rains than usual.

🧳 Packing Tips for June

  • Lightweight Clothing: Opt for breathable fabrics like cotton or linen to stay cool during the warm days.

  • Rain Gear: An umbrella or a lightweight, waterproof jacket is essential, especially for late June.

  • Footwear: Water-resistant shoes or sandals suitable for wet conditions are recommended.

  • Evening Wear: A light sweater or jacket may be useful for cooler evenings.

🌡️ Comparison with Busan

Busan, located further south, generally experiences slightly warmer temperatures than Seoul in June. While Seoul's average highs are around 26–28°C (79–82°F), Busan may see temperatures ranging from 27–29°C (81–84°F). However, both cities are subject to the monsoon rains, so similar precautions apply.

Get GOOD street food at traditional markets!

Unpopular opinion: Myeongdong street food isn't worth the money or the crowds. There are better options elsewhere! Myeongdong primarily offers popular street foods tailored to tourists, with limited traditional Korean options. For a more authentic and reasonably priced experience, try visiting a traditional market. Gwangjang Market was once a local favorite, but it has increasingly catered to tourists, with some vendors recently facing controversy for overpricing their food.

We recommend that you head over to Namdaemun Market or our personal favorite, Mangwon Market. There's even Tongin Market, which is smaller than the other markets mentioned, but less crowded.

Gwangjang Market - Foods that are popular in Gwangjang Market are bindaetteok (Crispy Mungbean Pancakes), yukhoe (Beef Tartare), kalguksu (Knife Cut Noodles), twisted donuts, and more! Make sure to head towards Cheonggyecheon Stream and you'll find the famous cafe onion's Gwangjang Market location. ABEBE Bakery, a popular donut shop on Jeju Island, also has a location in Seoul, right by Gwangjang Market. Some say that they are the best donuts they've ever had!

Mangwon Market - Mangwon Market likely offers the most diverse selection of food. You'll find everything from hotteok sprinkled with ppurinkle (cheese) dust to fried, giant stuffed peppers, and my personal favorite, dakgangjeong (fried chicken in sweet and spicy sauce). The neighborhood also features charming cafes and shops—be sure to stroll around and discover some hidden gems! Additionally, it's close to Mangwon Han River Park. Why not grab some takeout from the market and enjoy a picnic by the Han River? You can rent picnic mats from vendors at the park entrance or at the convenience stores inside the park.

Namdaemun Market - Namdaemun Market is known for selling literally everything, from dishware to bakery ware to designer knock offs. It also has a great food scene and is especially known for its 'Galchi Jorim (braised hairtail fish) Alley' and kalguksu stalls. There is this one hotteok stand, that always has a line, that's definitely worth the visit!

Tongin Market - Tongin is a little unique from the rest of the markets. You can buy coins and an empty lunch box (dosirak) and use the coins to get single portions of the street food at the market to fill up your lunch box. This is a perfect option if you want to try a variety of food but don't want to indulge too much. Popular foods at Tongin Market include the dry tteokbokki (tteokbokki fried in oil), mayak kimbap (mini kimbap), japchae (glass noodles with veggies), and more.
