Customized Skincare Tips by Procedure

① Post-Lifting Care | Ultherapy & Thermage: Lukewarm Water is Key!

First 24 hours after treatment:

  • Cold compress: Only if you have swelling or pain, 10–15 minutes at a time. Too much cold can actually reduce the effect!
  • Sleeping position: Use two pillows to keep your head elevated.
  • Cleansing/makeup: You can start from the day of the procedure, but be gentle.

During the first 1–2 weeks:

  • Cleansing: Stick to lukewarm water and be very gentle.

* Tip: I got Ultherapy and washed my face with hot water on the first day—my swelling got worse! Lukewarm water is definitely the way to go.

② Post-Skin Booster Care | Keep Your Skin Moisturized (Rejuran & Exosome)

First 24 hours after treatment:

  • Washing your face: You can wash after 6 hours, but it’s better to wait a full 24 hours if possible.
  • Cold compress: 10 minutes at a time, focusing on the injection areas.
  • Moisturizing: Apply the hospital-prescribed moisturizer every 2 hours.
  • Makeup: Safe to use after 24 hours.

During the first 1–2 weeks:

  • Cleansing: Use cleansing water instead of a foaming cleanser, and avoid using a shower head directly on your face.
  • Sun protection: SPF 30+ is a must.
  • Hydration: Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.

* Tip: Hydration is the key for Rejuran! I kept a humidifier running and applied moisturizer three times a day—the results were amazing.

③ Pigment Laser Aftercare | Don’t Touch the Scabs (Laser Toning & Pico Laser)

Ointment use after laser treatment:

  • Anti-inflammatory ointment (1–3 days): Apply twice daily until redness fades.
  • Regenerating ointment (when scabs form): Apply twice daily on the dark scabs.
  • Moisturizing ointment (after scabs fall off): Continue to protect the new skin.

During the first 1–2 weeks:

  • Cleansing: Use a mildly acidic cleanser with lukewarm water, lather well, and wash gently in circular motions.
  • Moisturizing: Apply a recovery cream immediately after cleansing.
  • Sun protection: Essential, even after the scabs have fallen off.
  • Strictly avoid: Picking scabs, scrubs, or harsh cleansing. These can easily cause pigmentation.

* Tip: Three days after my IPL, the scab was itchy, and I scratched it. That spot ended up pigmented, and I had to extend my treatment by another month!

④ Botox Aftercare | Avoid Sleeping Face Down

First 4 hours after treatment:

  • Posture: Stay seated or standing—avoid lying down to prevent Botox from spreading.
  • Treatment area: Do not touch or rub the injected areas.
  • Washing face / makeup: Allowed after 1–2 hours, but be very gentle.

Within the first week:

  • Sleep position: Avoid sleeping on your stomach.

* Tip: Botox is sensitive to both heat and pressure, so the first week is key!

⑤ General Precautions for All Type of Procedures

  • Avoid intense exercise, alcohol, and smoking for 1–2 weeks.
  • No sauna or steam baths for 1 week.
  • Avoid facial massages for 2 weeks.
  • Avoid facial massages for 2 weeks.

In-Flight Skincare Tips After Procedures

If you get a skin treatment on your last day in Korea and have to hop on a plane right after, the dry cabin air can be a real concern. I’ve been there myself, but with the right in-flight skincare routine, you can protect your treatment results and travel comfortably!

Must-Have Skincare Items for Carry-On

  • Moisturizing cream (100ml or less)
  • Sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher)
  • Mist (100ml or less)
  • Prescription ointment
  • Neck pillow

In-Flight Care

Moisture is the key!

  • Every 1 hour: Lightly spray mist
  • Every 2 hours: Drink a cup of water (at least 6 cups total)
  • Every 3 hours: Reapply moisturizing cream
  • Always: Wear a mask to avoid direct air-conditioning drafts

Sleeping Posture

  • Avoid direct pillow contact with your face
  • Change positions instead of lying on one side the whole time

In-Flight Meals

  • Best drinks: Water, electrolyte drinks, herbal tea
  • Avoid: Alcohol, coffee, soda
  • Meals: Choose light foods over salty dishes — opt for fruits or salads

Final Tips

After years of trying different treatments, I’ve realized that the key isn’t just the procedures themselves: it’s knowing what requires a specialist and what you can handle at home.

Before jumping on every online tip, consult a dermatologist to find the best treatments for your skin. Then, focus on consistent at-home care that complements those procedures. That combination is what truly keeps your skin healthy, radiant, and glowing long-term.
