Our Visit

Today, I visited the Korean restaurant 'Sambong Dodam' located near Jonggak Station.

It's close to the subway station and near Insadong, so there are plenty of places to look around nearby, making it perfect for a date or a family meal.

The inside of the store was spacious and clean. Especially with the large windows, it seemed like you could enjoy a cozy atmosphere not only on sunny days but also on rainy days.

The space where you can dine comfortably was impressive.

'Sambong Dodam' has a lot of delicious Korean food. The editor ordered Hanwoo ox bone chicken kalguksu, sliced boiled pork bossam, minari pancake, and bibim guksu.

First, Hanwoo Sagol Chicken Kalguksu uses a broth made by simmering Hanwoo beef bone and chicken for over 4 hours.

Maybe that's why the broth was really rich and deep from the very first spoonful. The light yet savory flavor blended perfectly with the noodles,

The finely chopped chicken was not dry and was tender, making it great to eat together.

After eating a little, I tried adding spicy chicken breast topping, and if you add this, it becomes 'Spicy Korean Beef Bone Chicken Noodle Soup'!

The spicy flavor was addictive without being too strong, and it felt like the broth had a richer depth.

The broth was so delicious that I wanted to mix rice in it, and at Sambong Dodam, they offer free rice at the self-serve bar!

If you only want rice without noodles, just let them know when you order.

I really liked how they paid such careful attention to even the smallest details of my preferences.

The rich broth blended with the rice, giving it a deep flavor that felt like enjoying a warm bowl of soup with rice.

It's not too strong but still has a savory flavor, so I kept reaching for another bite until the very last spoonful.

I really finished it cleanly and deliciously, down to the bottom of the bowl, without any burden.

Next is the minari pancake. The moment the large minari pancake came out, its savory aroma filled the air and really whetted my appetite.

The outside was crispy and the inside was moist, and without any greasy feeling, the unique aroma and flavor of minari really stood out—I was truly impressed.

If you dip it in the sauce that comes with it and add a chili pepper on top, the spicy flavor is enhanced, so you can enjoy it deliciously without getting tired of it until the end.

The bibim noodles that came out next were the perfect dish for hot weather like this.

The spicy and sweet sauce blends well with the crunchy vegetables, and if you ask, broth is also provided separately!

With the editor's tip, adding a few spoonfuls of broth to bibim noodles makes the noodles softer and creates a more harmonious overall flavor.

Bibim-guksu is just perfect when you have no appetite! That’s exactly how it tasted.

If you eat it together with the fresh kimchi that's served, the flavor really doubles!

The fresh crunch of the freshly mixed geotjeori and its slightly tangy taste went perfectly with the spicy bibim noodles, creating a sense of perfect flavor balance in my mouth.

I got more kimchi before seriously starting on the next dish, bossam.

You can get kimchi from the self-serve bar, and maybe because it's freshly mixed every morning with care, I just kept going back for more!

I finished all the kimchi before even eating the bossam, so I went back and filled up my plate again!

The last dish served is Mungteongi Suyuk Bossam.

The meat was thick yet tender, and the lean meat and fat were well-balanced, making it taste richer and more savory with each bite.

Thanks to the three types of sauces served with the fresh vegetables, I enjoyed being able to try various combinations.

The editor first ate the essential bossam and kimchi together.

Kimchi was a perfect match with kalguksu, but it also went so well with bossam that I kept reaching for it.

First, the green onion sauce was very impressive thanks to the crunchy texture of the green onions that you could bite into here and there.

I wondered if it would be a combination similar to kimchi, but it had a completely different flavor.

The subtle aroma and sharp taste of green onions went surprisingly well with the meat!

The second one is garlic sauce.

It had a flavor like garlic aged like pickles, which completely got rid of any greasiness and brought out the original savory taste of the meat even more clearly.

I dipped it generously in the sauce, and the flavor really came alive. It was such a perfect match for my taste that I'd call it the editor's top pick!

The last one was a ssamjang sauce with perilla seeds.

Usually, when you think of ssamjang, you imagine a familiar and ordinary taste, but it was different here!

The unique savory flavor of perilla seeds and their rich umami enhanced the taste of bossam to a whole new level.

I was amazed by how harmoniously it came together, enjoying it until the very last bite.

And another charm of 'Sambong Dodam' is the self-serve bibimbap.

You can mix the rice prepared at the self-serve bar with gochujang and sesame oil to your liking, allowing you to adjust the spiciness to suit your taste, so it's simple but

The taste was anything but ordinary. I was very satisfied with this savory and hearty meal to finish off my day!

‘Sambong Dodam’ is a place that offers a satisfying meal with rich broth, fresh ingredients, and side dishes made with care, leaving nothing out.

This is the perfect place to enjoy hearty and warm Korean home-cooked meals in a clean and cozy atmosphere.

We highly recommend 'Sambong Dodam' to anyone who wants to enjoy authentic Korean cuisine!
