1. Uirimji Reservoir

Uirimji is one of the oldest artificial reservoirs in Korea, and it is a famous scenic site with significant historical value.

With a beautiful landscape lined with pine and willow trees along the lake, it has also been a filming location for the famous Korean variety show Running Man and the drama Revenant.

If you walk around the lake, you can find the famous Yongchu Waterfall of Uirimji. The waterfall is also tremendously high, and there is a glass observatory installed above, allowing you to thrillingly take in the breathtaking view all at once. 2. Biryongdam Reservoir

3. Cheongpung Lake Cable Car / Monorail

There’s a Korean saying, “Cheongpungmyeongwol,” meaning “the scenery and weather are beautiful.” This phrase perfectly describes Cheongpung Lake, Jecheon’s iconic lake, often called “the inland sea” for its vast size and stunning views.

To fully take in the stunning views of Cheongpung Lake, head to the top of Bibongsan Mountain. You can hike the 2.3 km trail, or, for a more relaxed option, take the cable car or monorail!

The cable car is transparent all around, allowing you to take in a panoramic view of Jecheon City as you quickly ascend to the top.

The monorail takes a slower route through Bibongsan, but don’t let that fool you—it has some exciting ups and downs on steep slopes, making for a fun ride!

If you go up to the observatory at the top, you can see Cheongpung Lake as well as key mountains representing Korea such as Gaemyung Mountain, Worak Mountain, and Chiak Mountain.

4. Oksunbong Suspension Bridge

Looking for a bit of adventure? The Oksunbong Suspension Bridge is the place to be! This bridge offers a unique view of Oksunbong, a famous scenic spot, letting you experience it up close from above Cheongpung Lake. While I was a little nervous crossing the swaying bridge, it’s built to be sturdy and safe.

From the bridge, you’ll get sweeping views of the majestic Oksunbong, the Oksundaegyo Bridge, and cruise ships gliding across Cheongpung Lake. You can also spot people trekking or enjoying canoeing and kayaking on the lake nearby.

Unfortunately, I visited on a rainy day, but if you visit when the weather is clear, the picturesque scenery stands out even more!

Here’s a tip! When you buy an admission ticket, you’ll get 2,000 won back in Jecheon currency, which you can use at local restaurants and cafes—so don’t miss out on this perk!

5. Baeron Holy Ground

Baeron Holy Ground is a key site in the history of Korean Catholicism and a popular pilgrimage spot for Catholics across the country. In 1801, Catholics sought refuge here from religious persecution, and it later became the site of Korea's first modern school, St. Joseph’s Seminary, making it a vital part of Catholic heritage in Korea.

6. Cheongpung Cultural Heritage Complex

Hours: Daily 9:00~18:00 (Operating hours reduced by 1 hour from November to February)

With its stunning natural scenery and vast landscape, Cheongpung has long been a place where cultural heritage thrives. However, when Chungju Dam was built, nearby villages and historic sites faced the threat of submersion. To protect them, these cultural treasures were carefully relocated and restored at the Cheongpung Cultural Heritage Complex.

The complex features ancient relics like dolmens and statues, as well as traditional buildings, including houses and government offices where people once lived. Inside the homes, daily life from that era is carefully recreated, giving you a real glimpse into how people lived back then.

There’s also an area where you can try traditional games and even see tools for corporal punishment—just like in the Korean historical dramas! It was so much fun, and I think it’s a must-visit for K-drama fans like me.

7. Cheongpung Ferry Chungju Lake Cruise

The cruise from Cheongpung Pier in Jecheon to Janghoenaru in Danyang takes about 90 minutes round-trip. The stretch through Cheongpung Bridge and Oksun Bridge is especially scenic, offering views of Korea’s famous Oksoong and Gudam Peaks, as well as the breathtaking Danyang Palgyeong.

8. Subtropical Smart Greenhouse

Do you want to visit a hidden tourist spot with few tourists? Then visit the 'Jecheon Subtropical Smart Greenhouse' which has been open for less than a year!

The interior of the greenhouse is managed by an automatic control system to maintain a constant temperature, and you can see various subtropical plants that are rare in Korea, such as mango and durian.

It's comparable in size to a botanical garden, yet you can enjoy it for free, making it a popular spot frequented by locals.
