Our Visit
I visited 'Olly Shop' in Cheongdam today. They’re famous for offering top-tier hair and makeup services. Their experienced team has been styling Korean actors and celebrities for years.
Inside the store, the hair and makeup areas are neatly separated, providing a more comfortable environment for customers. At 'Olly Shop,' hair designers and makeup artists work in a 2:1 system, giving you more focused and personalized service.
When I arrived at the store, I checked in at reception, handed over my coat and luggage, and got a locker key. After heading to the makeup room, the staff welcomed me with a drink. I opted for 'daily makeup,' while my friend chose 'idol makeup.'
Before starting the daily makeup, I asked the artist about their go-to makeup style. I prefer looks that highlight dried rose tones and soft shadows. The process begins with a thorough application of basic skincare, followed by lip balm to keep the lips moisturized.
For a smooth finish and lasting makeup, apply a thin layer of primer around the nose and eyes. Then, use a brush to evenly spread the foundation, followed by a puff to blend it in. The result? My skin looks light, clear, and flawlessly finished!
After the first layer of foundation, I applied a light base eyeshadow to the eyelids. Then, I added a deeper shade along the double eyelid line for a natural look. The daily makeup was subtle, using soft, restrained colors.
The makeup artist used a brush to draw the eyeliner clearly, then checked if the angle was to my liking. I prefer a slight lift at the end of the eyeliner, so we adjusted the angle accordingly.
They added false eyelashes that matched my eye makeup perfectly. The lashes looked defined but not overdone, creating a natural effect like real eyelashes.
The artist seamlessly blended the artificial and real eyelashes by applying mascara for better hold. She then gently curled my lashes using a heated eyelash curler, warming the stick with a lighter beforehand. It’s a tricky technique if you’re not skilled, but the artist guided us smoothly, making the process easy!
Next, they shaped my eyebrows to match my face and natural brow texture. The difference before and after is striking—neatly groomed brows really enhance your look. Since I have gray eyebrows, they used brown eyebrow mascara to match the makeup tone, giving a soft yet sophisticated vibe!
I used concealer to cover freckles, redness, and blemishes, then moved on to a second layer of skin makeup. The secret to perfect daily makeup is keeping it light and natural!
In the final steps of makeup, I applied highlighter under the eyes, on the nose tip, and along the bridge to add dimension. Shading was carefully applied to enhance the facial contours for a more defined look.
Finally, I applied a dried rose-colored lipstick to match my preference. Since my upper lip is thinner, I balanced it with a lip pencil. Then, I applied the base color all over and finished with a pop of color in the center of the lips.
To make the makeup last longer, I finished with a light spray of fixer. And that's how the daily makeup look was completed!
I moved to the hair salon next. First, they used a hairdryer to set my hair.
I told the hair designer I wanted natural waves. They adjusted my hair part to 6:4 to suit my face shape and began styling. The process started by adding volume from the roots to the ends.
The hair was sectioned and styled into thick waves. Thanks to the designer’s skill, the process was quick and precise. As a final touch, a light mist of fixing spray was applied to enhance the curls.
With makeup and hair that cover my sideburns, the result is a clean, sophisticated look. It enhances the face without being overdone—overall, very satisfying. If you're going for a polished, actor-like vibe, I highly recommend the 'Daily Makeup'!
Next, my friend went for 'idol makeup.' She showed the artist a reference photo, and the makeup started from there. The first step was applying plenty of moisture with basic skincare.
To achieve a smooth skin texture, primer was applied to oily areas and spots needing pore control. The foundation was then evenly applied for a bright, flawless complexion. Since it’s idol makeup, the skin was made to look even brighter and clearer.
Starting with basic eye makeup, I used a base eyeshadow to remove any oiliness around the eyes. For a clean look, the eyebrows were also neatly trimmed.
A deep-colored eyeshadow was applied to the double eyelid line, creating a more defined eye makeup look. Since the eyelash perm had faded, I used a curler to lift the lashes.
After the makeup was done, my friend headed to the hair salon. There, they used a curling iron to add volume to the roots and finished the styling with a hair dryer. The order of hairstyling and makeup can vary depending on the situation.
After that, I returned to the makeup room to continue the makeup. A dark eyeshadow was applied to the center of the eyelids, giving the eye makeup a more defined look compared to daily makeup.
Next, I carefully filled in the lash line with a clean brush and extended the eyeliner to the ends of my eyes. Then, the curler lifted my eyelashes perfectly.
Luxurious false eyelashes were applied to enhance the eyes, followed by an eyelash curl to ensure long-lasting hold.
The brows were shaped in a trendy style, filled in, and finished with a light eyebrow mascara for a polished look.
I applied a white-tone BB cream to the center of the cheeks and did a second layer of skin makeup by gently patting it in with a puff.
I used a shading stick to make the nose bridge appear higher. To brighten the face, I added a pop of strawberry milk-colored blush, the key feature of idol makeup.
I applied shading under the eyes to make them appear bigger and used a bright highlighter on the nose to add dimension. This look definitely captured all the key makeup trends that idols love these days!
Finally, the sparkling pearls, a signature of idol makeup, were generously applied in front of the eyes, on the center of the eyelids, and on the aegyo sal for extra glamour. After curling the lower lashes, the eye makeup was complete.
I applied sparkling lip gloss to create a juicy, full lip look. With the idol vibe in place, the 'idol makeup' is complete! Now, it's time for hair styling.
Back in the hair salon, I added curls to my hair, creating a beautiful wavy style that was already looking great.
But that wasn’t the end! They styled my hair into two cute braids for an extra touch.
