☔️ Seoul Weather in July 2025
In July, South Korea is fully immersed in its monsoon season (장마), which typically begins in mid to late June and continues through the end of July. This year (2025), the rainy season began slightly earlier than usual, and forecasts predict higher-than-average rainfall across the country.
This period is characterized by heavy, frequent downpours and high humidity, covering the landscape in a verdant lushness while offering brief relief from peak summer heat. However, the humidity and flash rainstorms can make it feel more oppressive than refreshing.
🧥 What to Expect
Rainfall:
Expect around 15–16 rainy days in July, with total precipitation nearing 350–400mm. Some days may see sudden downpours exceeding 30mm/hour, so waterproof gear is essential.Humidity:
Average humidity remains high at around 78–82%, contributing to a sticky, tropical feel — even at night.Temperatures:
Highs: from 27°C to 30°C, rarely falling below 23°C or exceeding 33°C
Lows: from 21°C to 24°C, rarely falling below 19°C or exceeding 26°C
👟 What to Wear & Bring
Due to the heavy rainfall, it’s crucial to wear water-resistant shoes or footwear that can protect your feet from getting soaked. Locals often opt for rubber sandals, waterproof slippers, or rain boots.
To stay comfortable, pack:
A portable umbrella
A lightweight waterproof jacket
Quick-dry, breathable clothing
An extra pair of socks/shoes if you’ll be out all day
✅ TL;DR
🌧 More rain than usual — sudden downpours, early start to monsoon
🧦 Waterproof footwear is a must — puddles and flash flooding common
🥵 High humidity + heat — prepare for tropical conditions
☔ Be flexible with travel plans — many days will be rainy and overcast

Korean food recs for the summer!
Rainy days call for crispy jeon (Korean pancakes) and some ice-cold makgeolli (Korean rice wine). Let me tell you why.
In Korea, the tradition of eating jeon (a type of savory pancake) and drinking makgeolli (a milky rice wine) on rainy days is rooted in a sensory and practical connection. The sound of rain resembles the sizzling sound of jeon cooking in oil, enhancing the cozy ambiance. Additionally, the humid weather increases the fermentation rate of makgeolli, making it an ideal pairing with the oily jeon for a comforting meal on a wet day.
Here's a list of the best jeon restaurants in Seoul!
- Parkgane Bindaedduk @ Gwangjang Market
- Sinsajeon @ Sinsa-dong
- Hong's Makgeolli @ Hongdae
- Jangeumi Jeonjip @ Myeongdong
