Our Visit
Today, we've visited the SZIMPATIKUS Seongsu Branch, a fine casual restaurant where you can enjoy various European foods and wines in a comfortable and stylish space at reasonable prices. SZIMPATIKUS also has a total of four locations in Korea's popular spots: Seongsu, Seoul Station, Garosugil, and Yongsan.
After we checked our reservation at the wood-themed reception, we were guided to our seats.
The SZIMPATIKUS Seongsu branch was spacious and tidy, with a view of Seongsudong's railway and sky through the front windows offering a refreshing, open feeling!
There's also an open kitchen where you can see the chefs cooking!
There are many seating options available, including 2-person tables, 3–4 person group tables, 5–6 person group tables, and long tables for 2–6 people.
Although there are many tables, the spacing between them is wide, so it doesn't feel cramped at all!
Today, we got a 2-person table right next to the window.
Our table also had lockers below for storing personal belongings!
SZIMPATIKUS has a clean and basic tableware.
Each table is equipped with a tablet for browsing the menu and placing orders. For shy individuals, ordering directly from the tablet may feel more comfortable! With menu items written in English, it's also convenient for foreigners to choose dishes!
For group and long tables, they also provide physical menus, as it might be hard to view the menu on a single device. Their diverse dinner menu features unique dishes and a selection of over 15 wines to complement your meal. Each branch also has exclusive items, making it worth visiting multiple locations to explore their unique flavors!
We've decided to try the Anchovy & Romaine Salad, Grilled Scallops, Brisket Bracken Pasta, and Char-Grilled Iberico Pluma Steak. For drinks, we chose Bruno Lafon and Le Petit Chardonnay, along with the branch-exclusive Sangria.
While waiting for our food, we admired the sunset through the windows, a rare find in Seongsudong!
The Bruno Lafon Le Petit Chardonnay and Sangria arrived first. The Chardonnay was fresh and crisp, pairing well with most dishes. The Sangria, a mix of red wine, citrus syrup, fruit juice, and Sprite, was refreshingly sweet and sour.
Anchovy & Romaine Salad

We started with the Anchovy & Romaine Salad, featuring romaine, anchovy dressing, fried anchovies, a sous vide egg, and flatbread. Mixing the creamy egg with the salad and flatbread offered a delightful combination of flavors.
Brisket Bracken Pasta

The Brisket Bracken Pasta features spaghetti, perilla leaf pesto, bracken, and brisket, offering a blend of tender bracken and savory brisket with a deep, aromatic flavor from the perilla and sesame oil.
Grilled Scallop
23,000 KRW
The Grilled Scallops, a dinner-exclusive dish, consists of scallops, mini cabbage, ponzu blanc, corn & cauliflower purée, and shrimp oil. The moist scallops, generously topped with the sweet and nutty purée, melt delightfully in your mouth, while the well-roasted mini cabbage adds an extra sweetness!
Char-Grilled Iberico Pluma Steak
48,500 KRW
Our favorite was definitely the Char-Grilled Iberico Pluma Steak, featuring Iberico Bellota Pluma, red chimichurri, perilla oil, and vegetable tempura, the combination of Western steak with Korean perilla oil was surprisingly harmonious, and it was truly delicious!
The overall menu at SZIMPATIKUS felt unique because you could experience a new harmony of Korean ingredients with European food. Although we ordered four dishes for two people, one dish per person is satisfactory, or for those who eat a lot, three dishes for two would be enough!
